Conditions at Yellowstone Lake State Park

Conditions as of Saturday, January 16, 2010:

Trails: Oak Ridge, Prairie Loop, and Oak Grove trails are groomed and tracked. The snowmobile trail in the park is open. The park offers a good opportunity for snowshoeing enthusiasts. Contact the park office for more information and current trail conditions.

Camping: Campgrounds are closed until March 31, 2010. You can reserve a site for 2010 online, or by calling toll free (888) 947-2757, TTY (800) 274-7275.

Lake: The lake is frozen over and there have been some ice fishers out. Fishing success has been poor. Remember, we do not monitor ice thickness and we do not advocate driving on the ice at any time. Yellowstone Lake has specific fishing regulations. Make sure you read the 2009-2010 Wisconsin Fishing Regulations prior to fishing on Yellowstone Lake.

Nature: Now is a good time to see the often hidden features at Yellowstone Lake. With the foliage gone, rock outcroppings hidden during spring, summer and fall become visible. Animals are abundant and tracking conditions are excellent.

Hunting: Hunting season is over in the park.
