The Endangered Resources Program is excited to introduce a new, second license plate that will be available for purchase in addition to the original wolf plate. The colorful badger plate helps showcase our work to protect Species of Greatest Conservation Need and their habitats. Voters around the state cast over 23,000 votes for their favorite design during the on-line poll in 2009. The departments of Natural Resources and Transportation used the survey results in their final decision in choosing the badger as the "winning" design. See the survey results...

Four Plate Designs

The four plates were designed by Nan Rudd of Rudd Designs in New Glarus Wisconsin. They all represent popular and recognizable species within the natural communities they inhabit:
  • Wisconsin prairie and savanna with badger, meadowlark, and tiger swallowtail butterfly
  • Northern Wisconsin lake with great blue heron, white water-lily, and forest
  • Wisconsin prairie with eastern bluebird and monarch butterfly
  • Wisconsin savanna with red-headed woodpecker, karner blue butterfly, and wild lupine
